I admit that I think most of Bloom County was not really that good. I think the strip was at its best in the early days when it was a satire of small-town America, seeing national politics from afar. I think it went downhill pretty quickly when it moved away from that. Okay, to be fair it probably happened a little later than when Bill was actually introduced, but I also hated Bill the Cat so much...

I'm looking forward to the IDW collections mainly for the early stuff which has supposedly never been reprinted, since that's the period of the strip I liked. But I doubt I'll pick up more than the first two volumes.

trying to dig up info on the lovely censored strips IDW chose for the publication of Bloom County....seriously? The strip jumped the shark when it introduced Bill? In mid '82? The strip had barely been running a year and a half...almost all of the classic work yet to come. Sure it wasn't when they transplanted Trump's brain into his body? Or Billy and the Boingers? Some Bill-heavy storyline? When he introduced Bill?! REALLY?!

Um, sorry. I was really just passing through but I'm staring at that mystified, wondering how someone can even LIKE Bloom County if they think it jumped the shark maybe 2/9ths into its total running time...
